Biesterfeld: Expanded Distribution of Lehvoss Compounds for Medical Technology

Effective July 1, 2026, Biesterfeld has expanded its collaboration with the Lehvoss Group. The distributor will take over the distribution of Luvocom high-performance compounds for medical applications across Europe, excluding the Nordic countries. The two companies already cooperate in the field of high-performance polymers.

The portfolio includes compounds for medical device components that require high mechanical strength, thermal and chemical resistance, reproducible processing, and long-term material performance. Depending on the specific material grade, the compounds are biocompatible and designed for established sterilization methods such as steam sterilization, ethylene oxide (EtO), and gamma irradiation.

In addition to standardized medical-grade materials, Lehvoss offers application-specific material solutions tailored to customer requirements. These include customized pigmentation, antibacterial properties, and additional testing based on the specific component and its intended use.

Potential applications include surgical instruments, orthopedic and dental devices, drug delivery systems, and components for diagnostic and medical equipment. In material selection, key considerations include not only technical performance but also process stability, sterilization compatibility, and regulatory requirements throughout product development.

As part of the expanded partnership, Lehvoss will combine its materials expertise and development capabilities with Biesterfeld’s European sales network as well as its technical and regulatory consulting services. Customers will receive support in selecting and validating suitable materials. According to the companies, this also includes guidance on the biological evaluation of medical devices in accordance with ISO 10993.

Biesterfeld will also assume responsibilities for procurement and supply chain coordination. Through its European distribution network, the company aims to ensure continuous material availability, short response times, and long-term supply reliability.

By expanding the distribution agreement, the two companies are deepening their existing cooperation in high-performance polymers and extending it to additional European markets for medical technology applications.
