Swedish plastics group Hexpol is acquiring Italian compounding company Vipa Group.

The Swedish company announced the agreement in a press release at the end of July. Under the terms of the deal, Hexpol will acquire 100 percent of the shares in Vipa, which has so far been controlled by the Paolini entrepreneurial family, for a total purchase price of EUR 143.5 million. Completion of the transaction is expected during the third quarter of this year.

Founded in 1969, Vipa Group develops and produces thermoplastic compounds for the cable industry and, according to Hexpol, is one of Europe’s leading companies in this segment. The group is headquartered in Ancarano in the central Italian region of Abruzzo and operates two production facilities and an R&D centre through its subsidiaries Vi.pa S.r.l. and Vi.pa Polimeri S.r.l. With a total workforce of around 80 employees, Vipa generated sales of approximately EUR 76.4 million in the 2025 financial year. Vipa’s current CEO, Nicola Vigolo, is expected to remain at the helm of the company under Hexpol’s ownership.

Hexpol CEO Peter Rosén said: “The acquisition of Vipa Group is an important step in implementing the growth strategy for our new Thermoplastic Compounding business area, which we presented at our Capital Markets Day in November 2025. It also underlines our ambition to build a leading thermoplastics platform through organic growth and acquisitions. Vipa Group brings leading market positions in the cable sector, extensive materials expertise and strong exposure to long-term structural growth drivers such as electrification and data centres.”

In addition to Vipa Group, Hexpol is incorporating its subsidiaries Hexpol Izmir in Türkiye and Hexpol Vilafranca in Spain into the newly established Thermoplastic Compounding business area.

According to the publicly listed company, Hexpol Group is one of the leading developers and manufacturers of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) and complementary compounds. Hexpol also produces plastic profiles, gaskets for heat exchangers and plastic wheels, among other products. Headquartered in Malmö, the group employs around 5,000 people in 13 countries. In the first half of the 2026 financial year, Hexpol generated revenue of SEK 10.048 billion (EUR 912 million), an operating profit of SEK 1.384 billion (EUR 126 million) and net profit of SEK 1.059 billion (EUR 96 million).
