![]() ![]() The inline viscometer "Visco P" is now available with a complete closed-loop control system and, in combination with a dosing unit, enables an additive to be controlled based on the viscosity measured during the production process - (Image: Promix Solutions). With Microcell Technology, atmospheric gases are introduced into the polymer melt in a controlled manner to create a microcellular foam structure. According to the company, product weight can be reduced by 20 to 50 percent, depending on the application. The process is used for films, sheets, foam-core pipes, profiles and cable sheathing, among other applications. As a new field of application, Promix is working with an industrial partner to develop foamed monofilaments for artificial turf. The portfolio is complemented by a new "Procell" additive type for PET foams. The endothermic blowing agent does not release water during the reaction and supports the formation of fine cell structures. Promix will also present an annular die for PP and PS foam films. Its geometry is designed to reduce fluctuations in foam density and layer thickness. A flex-lip system enables reproducible adjustment of the film thickness. Another focus is the Visco-P inline viscometer. It continuously measures melt viscosity directly in the production stream, without a bypass or material sampling. The system is intended for applications including recyclates, filled compounds and shear-sensitive materials. A new feature is the integration of the Visco-P into a closed-loop control system with dosing systems. At Fakuma 2026, Promix will demonstrate this using PET extrusion as an example: If the IV value derived from the viscosity falls below a defined setpoint, the dosing of an IV enhancer is automatically adjusted. The principle can also be transferred to other applications, such as additive dosing in PP recycling. Additional functions are available for trend analysis, statistical evaluation and documentation of process data. Defined limit values can trigger warning messages in the event of deviations. The Visco-P can be integrated into existing extrusion lines and connected to higher-level control and production systems via standard communication interfaces.
