GRP pipe manufacturer Amiblu has commissioned a third production line at its site in Nouaceur, Morocco. According to the company, it invested around €15.2 million in the expansion. The new line increases the plant’s annual production capacity to the equivalent of 660 kilometres of DN800 pipes. At the same time, Amiblu is expanding the range of pipe sizes it can manufacture: in future, GRP pipes with diameters of up to DN3200 can be produced in Morocco, compared with a previous maximum of DN2600. The expansion also includes new testing and production equipment, additional capacity for fittings and couplings, as well as enlarged production, administrative, storage and shipping areas. The additional capacity is intended to serve both the Moroccan market and customers in West Africa and selected East African countries. The GRP pipe systems are used in applications including drinking water supply, irrigation, seawater desalination, wastewater systems and industrial applications. According to Morocco’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, the investment is expected to create more than 300 direct and indirect jobs. A GRP Academy is also scheduled to open at the site in 2027, offering training in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the pipe systems.
