Aumovio Sells Windshield Washer and Cleaning Systems Business to Certina

Aumovio is selling its windshield washer and cleaning systems business to the Certina Group. The two companies signed an agreement on September 3, 2026. The transaction covers production, research and development, as well as all employees and business activities associated with the unit.

The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The business is headquartered in Adršpach, Czech Republic, where all of its operations are located. Around 700 employees develop and manufacture windshield washer systems as well as cleaning systems for cameras, sensors and headlights. The portfolio also includes fluid supply systems.

The divestment is part of Aumovio’s ongoing focus on its defined core businesses. The automotive supplier plans to concentrate its resources more closely on technologies it considers future growth and value drivers. These include sensors, displays, braking and comfort systems, as well as software, architecture platforms and advanced driver assistance systems for software-defined vehicles.

Aumovio was formed in September 2025 from Continental’s former Automotive group sector. In fiscal 2025, the company generated sales of €18.5 billion. It employs around 82,000 people at more than 80 locations worldwide.

The buyer, Certina Group, is a family-owned industrial holding company specializing in acquisitions and carve-outs. According to the company, its automotive platform generates annual sales of around €600 million. Certina as a whole comprises 21 companies with more than 5,400 employees and combined annual sales of approximately €1.4 billion.

The acquired business is expected to be further developed as an independent company within Certina’s automotive activities.

For the plastics industry, the transaction is particularly relevant because of the extensive use of polymer components in fluid-handling and cleaning systems. Windshield washer systems and cleaning solutions for cameras, sensors and headlights contain numerous components and assemblies for which engineering plastics are suitable.

Plastics processors and material suppliers serving the automotive industry will therefore be watching closely how the supply chain and procurement structures of the newly independent business develop.
