Renolit SE is investing EUR 56 million in a new raw material processing facility at its headquarters in Worms. The new mixing plant is intended to further automate the production of plastic films, optimize material flows and reduce the physical strain on employees. Following the start of excavation work in February 2026, the precast concrete elements of the multi-storey building are currently being installed.

At the mixing plant, plastics, color pigments and other additives will be dosed and blended according to the respective formulations. The prepared mixture will then serve as the raw material for film production. Eight outdoor silos are initially planned for raw material storage, with the facility designed to accommodate up to 16 silos.

The technical equipment will include 37 automatic weighing stations, a separate dosing system for very small quantities and six mixing stations. A computer-based process control system will manage and monitor operations. In future, automated guided vehicles will transport the material containers through an enclosed steel tunnel connecting the new mixing plant with the existing production hall.

In addition to a higher level of automation, the company cites ergonomic improvements as a key objective of the project. In particular, the automated transport system is intended to reduce the need to move heavy loads manually.

The building will be heated using heat pumps. The container mixers will feature a lower-maintenance drive system designed to provide more efficient cooling and reduce noise emissions. Structural containment systems are intended to prevent the substances used from being released into the environment.

The building shell is scheduled for completion by December 2026. According to the company, installation of the plant equipment will begin as early as November 2026 and proceed in parallel with the remaining construction work. Commissioning of the new dosing system is planned for June 2027.
