Bieglo GmbH has added polyetherimide (PEI) from Indian manufacturer Gharda Chemicals Limited to its European distribution portfolio. Marketed under the “Gimide” brand, the material is produced by Gharda Polymers, the company’s high-performance polymers division. Bieglo is positioning the range as an additional sourcing option alongside established PEI materials such as “Ultem”, further strengthening its portfolio of high-performance thermoplastics.Polyetherimide is an amorphous high-performance thermoplastic known for its high heat resistance, dimensional stability, mechanical strength and electrical insulation properties. Typical applications include electrical and electronic components, mechanical engineering, and aerospace. Gharda specifies a glass transition temperature of approximately 217°C for the “Gimide” range. Depending on the grade, the portfolio includes unreinforced, glass-fibre-reinforced and carbon-fibre-reinforced materials, as well as different viscosity levels, natural and black colour options, and powder grades. Bieglo’s “Gimide” portfolio includes grades 7200G, 7200G-BL, 7220GF, 7230GF, 7300G, 7300G-BL, 7320GF and 7330GF. According to the company, technical data sheets, safety data sheets and REACH compliance documentation are available for selected grades. Suitability for specific applications depends on the respective technical requirements, approvals and qualification procedures. Bieglo sees additional sourcing options as particularly relevant for applications where material availability and continuity of supply are critical. These include aerospace and defence, where PEI is used in applications such as electrical and electronic components, housings, insulation parts and fastening elements. Any material substitution or second-source approval, however, requires application-specific testing and qualification. With the addition of “Gimide”, Bieglo is further broadening its sourcing strategy for high-performance polymers. Its existing portfolio includes PEEK, recycled PEEK, thermoplastic polyimide, PAI, PBI, PEKK and PPSU, among others. The company supplies these materials as granules, powders, semi-finished products and finished components in cooperation with international polymer manufacturers. Bieglo also plans to showcase “Gimide” at Fakuma 2026, with a focus on high-performance polymer applications as well as material qualification and sourcing.
