Labotek Introduces New Drying and Control Solutions for Plastics Processing

At Fakuma 2026, Labotek will showcase new and upgraded solutions for drying, dosing, material handling and process control, with a particular focus on energy efficiency, process reliability, connectivity and process-data acquisition.

One of the highlights is the "DDM VII", a new generation of mobile dryers. The unit is manufactured from V2A stainless steel both inside and out and features an enlarged cleaning door designed to simplify material changes and maintenance.

Together with Movacolor, Labotek will also present the "MDS Balance Drydose". The system combines the drying of moisture-sensitive additives with gravimetric dosing directly at the machine feed throat. By reducing conveying distances, the concept can eliminate the need for additional drying equipment in certain applications.

Labotek is also introducing a new modular control concept that connects dry-air generators, drying hoppers, vacuum stations and heat-recovery systems via "Profinet". A central 10-inch touchscreen can control up to 14 local units. The solution remains compatible with the company's "Labo-Net" platform, which additionally records process data, operator interventions and equipment status.

With its "EHR" system, Labotek makes use of external heat sources, such as waste heat from compressor cooling systems, for plastics drying. According to the company, electricity savings of up to 85% can be achieved, depending on operating conditions.

The "Gravi-Dryer", meanwhile, adapts the drying process to the actual material throughput. Material input and output are measured gravimetrically, allowing drying time and airflow to be adjusted accordingly. Process data can optionally be stored in an SQL database.

Overall, the systems presented by Labotek integrate drying, material handling, heat recovery and process control within a common architecture.
