Messe Düsseldorf is expanding its activities in India’s plastics and rubber sector through a new long-term partnership with the Plastics Machinery Manufacturers Association of India (PMMAI). Under the agreement, Messe Düsseldorf India Pvt. Ltd. and PMMAI will jointly own and organize “Plastfocus” from 2027 onwards. The exhibition will also join Messe Düsseldorf’s “K Alliance”, its international network of plastics and rubber trade fairs and industry partnerships. The cooperation marks the first time Messe Düsseldorf India will act as co-organizer of a plastics exhibition in the country. Move to Bengaluru The 2027 edition of “Plastfocus” is scheduled to relocate from Noida in the Greater Delhi region to Bengaluru. The event is planned for 23–26 June 2027 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre and is subsequently expected to take place every two years. The move positions the exhibition in one of southern India’s key industrial and technology centers and further strengthens the “K Alliance” presence in the Indian market. Growth in India’s plastics sector The partnership comes amid continued growth in India’s plastics industry and rising domestic demand. Market studies cited in the announcement put the sector’s value at more than USD 44 billion in 2025, with growth to over USD 63 billion forecast by 2031. India’s plastics consumption is currently estimated at around 22 million tonnes. Per-capita consumption, however, remains relatively low by international standards, leaving scope for further market growth. Additional production capacity and investment in industrial infrastructure, manufacturing and recycling are expected to support the sector’s continued expansion. Expansion of the K Alliance network “Plastfocus” will become part of Messe Düsseldorf’s international portfolio of plastics and rubber events, centered on “K” in Düsseldorf. Held every three years since 1952, “K” attracted 3,246 exhibitors from 65 countries to its 2025 edition, covering more than 176,000 square metres of net exhibition space. According to the organizer, around 169,000 visitors attended, 73 percent of them from outside Germany. Messe Düsseldorf India Pvt. Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH and organizes trade fairs across India. PMMAI represents Indian manufacturers of machinery for plastics processing, finishing, packaging and related applications and founded “Plastfocus”.
