Arkema Highlights Specialty Polyamides for Lightweighting, Transparency and Recycling

Arkema will showcase new applications and material solutions based on specialty polyamides at Fakuma 2026. The company will highlight materials for mobility, data centers, consumer electronics, consumer goods and industrial applications, with a focus on lightweighting, metal replacement, transparent applications, electrification, and the use of bio-based and recycled plastics.

Metal Replacement and Transparent Polyamides
For metal replacement applications, Arkema will present reinforced specialty polyamides designed for components requiring high mechanical performance while offering potential weight savings compared with metal designs.

The company will also highlight BPA-free transparent polyamides from its "Rilsan Clear" range. Among other applications, the materials are suitable for food-contact uses and are positioned as an alternative to conventional transparent polycarbonate.

Materials for Mobility and Electrification
For mobility applications, Arkema's portfolio includes materials for vehicle electrification, lightweighting and fluid management, as well as solutions for emerging transportation concepts.

The company will also present recycled and certified long-chain polyamides. According to Arkema, the range currently includes more than 25 material grades.

Specialty Polyamide and Elastomer Portfolio
Arkema's portfolio includes "Rilsan PA11", a polyamide 11 that the company says is 100% bio-based; "Rilsamid PA12" polyamide 12; "Rilsan Clear" transparent polyamides; PPA grades marketed under the "Rilsan HT" name; "Pebax" thermoplastic elastomers; and copolyamides sold under the "Platamid" brand.

The company's bio-based specialty polyamides use renewable feedstocks including castor oil.

Through its "Virtucycle" recycling program, Arkema is also targeting the collection and recycling of high-performance thermoplastics.
