At Fakuma 2026, TechnoCompound GmbH will present new thermoplastic compounds for applications in the electrical and electronics industries as well as the automotive sector. The developments address electromagnetic shielding, electrical insulation and flame retardancy. Some of the materials incorporate recycled plastics.

EMC Shielding with Carbon Fibre-Reinforced Compounds
The "AbsorbXX" product range comprises compounds for electromagnetic shielding. The materials are primarily based on polyamide 6 (PA6) and recycled polypropylene (PP), are reinforced with carbon fibres and additionally contain carbon black. Depending on the material grade, shielding effectiveness reaches up to 55 dB at frequencies ranging from 30 MHz to 1.5 GHz and above, according to the company. The compounds are intended as an alternative to metallic shielding components, particularly in vehicles and electric vehicles.

Electrical Insulation with 75 Percent Recycled Content in the PA Matrix
The compound "TechnoMid GF 30 2 MH H" (K052500059), developed for electromobility applications, contains 75 percent recycled material in its polyamide matrix. It is reinforced with 30 wt.% short glass fibres and achieves a comparative tracking index (CTI) of 600 V (insulating material group I). The glass fibre reinforcement increases dimensional stability and improves mechanical properties. Heat stabilisation enhances resistance to thermal ageing, with a specified continuous service temperature of up to 150 °C. The material also offers the resistance to oils, greases and solvents typically associated with PA6.

According to TechnoCompound, "TechnoDur PBT GF 7 1 HFFR V0" enables reliable mould filling of this support structure for automatic sliding doors, despite the long flow paths, while meeting flame-retardancy and stiffness requirements -(Photo: TechnoCompound).
PBT Compound with Halogen-Free Flame Retardancy
For thin-walled moulded parts, TechnoCompound is introducing "TechnoDur PBT GF 7 1 HFFR V0" (502339). The polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) compound contains 7 wt.% short glass fibres and a halogen-free flame retardant system. It achieves a UL 94 V-0 classification at a test specimen thickness of 0.4 mm. According to the manufacturer, the low glass fibre content promotes high melt flowability, enabling thin-walled components to be filled even over long flow paths.

Further Developments for the Circular Economy and Processing
Other topics at the trade fair include closed-loop concepts for plastics recycling in connection with the European End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation (ELV-R), as well as packaging solutions addressing the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The product portfolio also includes easy-flowing PA6 grades from the "Easy-Flow" range, intended, among other applications, for injection-moulded front-end modules, as well as laser-markable, dimensionally stable PP compounds with favourable creep properties.

Additional developments include long glass fibre-reinforced PP compounds incorporating recycled materials for automotive interior applications, along with electrically conductive and electrostatically dissipative polystyrene compounds from the "PS-ESD" range. The latter are designed for extrusion and injection moulding and are intended to protect sensitive electronic components against electrostatic discharge.
