Dutch injection moulding machine manufacturer Stork IMM will showcase an all-electric injection moulding system for the production of thin-wall packaging at Fakuma 2026. The focus will be on the "Stork IMM 5500 All-Electric", which will be demonstrated in operation in Hall A7 at Stand 7201. The company's participation in the trade fair follows its acquisition by Arburg (see also plasticker-news dated July 30, 2026).IML packaging with an output of around 1,470 units per hour A two-cavity mould from Brink Moulds & Automation will be used to produce polypropylene (PP) containers with a capacity of 3.79 litres and in-mould labelling (IML). According to Stork IMM, the cycle time is 4.9 seconds. With two cavities, this corresponds to a calculated output of approximately 1,470 containers per hour. Each container weighs 98 g and has a wall thickness of 0.87 mm. In addition to the mould, the production cell includes the "Versatile IML System" from Brink Moulds & Automation, "Sabic PP" polypropylene, material handling equipment from Koch-Technik and cooling technology from Oni. Machine series for thin-wall applications Stork IMM's all-electric machine series is designed for applications including food packaging, buckets, flower pots and other thin-wall injection moulded products. The range covers clamping forces from 2,500 to 11,000 kN and, according to the manufacturer, achieves injection speeds of up to 500 mm/s. Increased platen rigidity and a rack-and-pinion design are intended to contribute to process stability and mould service life. The machines are designed for continuous 24-hour operation. Acquisition expands Arburg's machine portfolio At the end of July 2026, Arburg announced the acquisition of Stork Plastics Machinery B.V. The acquisition expands the German injection moulding machine manufacturer's portfolio to include large, high-speed machines for packaging applications, particularly in the clamping force range above 5,000 kN. According to the companies, Stork IMM will benefit from additional opportunities in international sales and service, as well as in procurement and supply chain management. Fakuma 2026 will mark Stork IMM's first appearance at the trade fair under Arburg ownership, following the acquisition in July 2026.
