NGA Group: Sequential Tubing Extrusion and Film Inspection

The NGA Group presented equipment and components for tubing and film extrusion, optical quality control and plastics recycling at Fakuma 2026. Participating companies were Collin Lab & Pilot Solutions GmbH, Comelt GmbH and Britas Recycling-Anlagen GmbH.

Collin: Material Changes Along the Length of the Tubing
Collin demonstrated a tubing extrusion line in live operation featuring a sequential extrusion die that the company says is patented. The line is designed for plastic and multi-lumen tubing, for example for catheters or endoscopic applications. It consists of three extruders, the die, a water bath with vacuum calibration and a belt haul-off with an integrated cutting unit.

The die automatically joins different materials sequentially along the extrusion direction without interrupting production. This makes it possible to vary material properties along the length of the product and create defined functional zones. According to the manufacturer, material changes take place at a constant layer thickness and with short transition zones. Producing such material combinations directly can replace downstream assembly, shrinking or joining operations.

Collin: Film Inspection with a Camera and Haze Measurement
The “Polytest Line Coficos 200”, also demonstrated in live operation, combines a single-screw extruder, a chill roll and a camera-based film inspection system. The system detects optical defects such as gel particles, black specks and pigment agglomerates in coloured films. The unit at the trade fair was equipped with a line-scan camera and a haze meter for measuring haze and light scattering in transparent films. The version on display is designed for a film width of 200 mm; a 400 mm version is also available.

Comelt: Extrusion Die with Central Lip Adjustment
Comelt exhibited the “Coflex” extrusion die with a width of 800 mm. The lower die lip can be adjusted centrally, either manually or automatically. The adjustment range is ±3.0 mm; according to the manufacturer, adjustments can be made within a few seconds. This allows the product thickness to be changed.

The company also presented a variable feedblock system for producing multilayer films from pilot to production scale. Its portfolio includes flat dies for monoextrusion, coextrusion and multi-manifold applications, as well as sheet, spinning and blown film dies. The dies and feedblocks are manufactured in Inzersdorf, Austria. Development, design and international sales are handled by NGA in Austria and the group’s international locations.

Britas: Melt Filtration for Plastics Recycling
Britas exhibited a piston screen changer. The company develops filtration solutions, including melt filters and piston screen changers, for removing contaminants from polymer melts. These processes form part of the conversion of plastic waste into recyclates.

NGA: Name Change and Ownership Structure
Next Generation Analytics GmbH, based in Grieskirchen, Austria, has been renamed NGA Plastic Technology GmbH. According to the company, this completes the restructuring of the group following the change in ownership. Since May 2026, Dr. Kastner GmbH has held 70% of the shares, Verstraten GmbH 20% and Corné Verstraten personally 10%.
