The Japanese Matsui Group has acquired French machinery manufacturer Moditec. The acquisition was completed on September 18, 2026. Based in Vienne, in the French department of Isère, Moditec develops and assembles slow-speed granulators and customized size-reduction systems for plastics processing. Founded in 1981, the company was previously family-owned.

With the acquisition, Matsui is expanding its manufacturing and development capabilities in Europe. The focus is on gradually integrating sales, application engineering and service operations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Moditec will continue to operate under its existing brand. Established business and customer relationships, as well as cooperation with distribution partners, will be maintained.

Expansion of Product Portfolio to Include Size-Reduction Technology
Matsui supplies auxiliary equipment for plastics processing, including dehumidifying dryers, temperature control units, vacuum conveying systems, dosing and mixing units, and chillers. Through the acquisition, the group is expanding its portfolio to include Moditec's size-reduction technology. The aim is to establish closer links between material drying, conveying, dosing and the in-house recycling of production scrap. This also includes feeding regrind generated directly at processing machines back into the production process. Matsui has also announced investments in research and development to further enhance Moditec's product range.

Products are distributed through more than 30 partners across all continents and directly to selected major customers. No revenue figures were disclosed for Moditec.

Corporate Structure and Integration
Founded in 1912, the Matsui Group employs approximately 1,200 people and generates annual revenue of around USD 250 million, according to company figures.
