J&A Plastics: International presence and high-tech compounds

For the first time ever, the Krefeld-based J&A Plastics Group (www.j-a.de) will be presenting itself at K 2004 in Düsseldorf together with its Spanish cooperation partner, the polyamide specialist Grupo Repol. Therewith the two compounders, who both regard themselves as classical niche and specialty providers, plan to document their international presence and bundled know-how. The joint compounding capacity is currently in excess of 20,000 tons p.a.

Three new Anja blends and nanocomposites
J&A Plastics will premiere three new blends with innovative property combinations, which were developed through to serial production phase in partnership with automotive suppliers. Furthermore, the trade fair will be the venue for presenting the new Grupo Repol developments, which include Dinalon brand nanocompounds. The new Anjablend S®, which fulfils both the Daimler/Chrysler standards and the standards of other OEMs, excels in terms of a considerably increased hot light aging and discoloration resistance. In conjunction with excellent surface hardness/rigidity and a dye range suitable for all automobile manufacturers, the PC/ABS blend is particularly suitable for use in both vehicle interiors and exteriors, e.g. for radiator grilles, wing mirror housings, etc.

With two new Anjadur® blends from the part-crystalline thermoplastic polyester product class, J&A Plastics is once again focussing not only on automotive applications, but also on the engine electrics and electronics sector. In addition to high rigidity and excellent UV and weathering stability, the two PBT/ASA- and PBT/PET-based polymer blends also offer a considerably lower distortion tendency than in the case of pure PBT products. Both the Anjadur® PBT/ASA blend and the Anjadur® PBT/PET blend are offered as fibreglass reinforced products, available in variants ranging from GF 10 to GF 30.

R qualities as an inexpensive alternative
The focus at the trade fair will be the broad assortment of Anja® types as well as a considerably expanded range of distribution products that J&A Plastics – in keeping with its “You design. We work.” philosophy – modifies into a customised special product in accordance with client-specific requirements. Of great interest – particularly for the price pressure suffering automotive supplier industry – are the top-quality, but still inexpensive, R qualities for nearly all applications. J&A Plastics is one of the pioneers of plastics recycling, whose R qualities correspond to a new product in technical terms.

High-tech compounds
To be able to offer customers the entire range – from resource-friendly through to technically highly-complex solutions – J&A Plastics supplies the Anja® product assortment in three quality levels, A, J and R. The premium-segment A qualities are particularly suitable for special settings and offer the customer a considerable added benefit. As, for example, the development of a special Anjalon PC type for functional modules in semi-conductor handling; this necessitated the combination of a specific electrical conductivity (104 Ohm to 106 Ohm surface resistance), in conjunction with the fire protection requirement in accordance with UL94 V-O, and an extremely high resistance and dimensional stability.
