At the conventional PET process after granulation, there is an amorphous granulate which clots at temperatures of more than 80°C. For the further production process of the granulate, however, it is essential that the granulate does not show any signs of stickiness. This is the reason why a costly so-called pre-crystallization has to be carried out. Under the influence of temperature and residence time, the granulate is being brought to a crystallization degree of about 45 % which neutralizes sticky effects and enables the granulate to be put into solid state polycondensation (SSP). This is the last stage in the process of PET production. This technology - called "CrystallCut®" - system from BKG Bruckmann & Kreyenborg Granuliertechnik GmbH (www.bkg.de), applied on for a patent, together with the under water pelletizing creates a product with a crystallization degree of 45 %, i. e. there are neither high capital investment nor energy costs related to pre-crystallization in the further production process. In addition to this advantage, the user gets an almost dust-free, even granulate with a bulk density that is by about 8 % higher. This technology is - so manufacturer’s information - applicable not only for the production of new commodity but also for PET recycling. K'2004, Düsseldorf, 20.-27.10.2004, Hall 9 Stand 48 |
