Sapa: Automotive supplier takes over two plants from Berry Global

The Italian automotive supplier Sapa Group has taken over two production plants of the US plastics group Berry Global in the Netherlands and Estonia.

According to the Sapa Group's press release, these are two plants of the Berry subsidiary Promens in Zevenaar near Arnhem in the Netherlands and Rõngu near Tartu in Estonia. The financial volume and further details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The two plants primarily produce plastic components for commercial vehicles. Promens Zevenaar alone operates 28 injection moulding machines with a clamping force of 400-32,000 kN. According to Sapa, the annual turnover of the two plants, which together employ more than 600 people, totals around 105 million euros. For the Sapa Group, this acquisition means further geographical diversification and, in particular, a strengthening of its position with major customers such as Volvo, Scania and Daimler Truck.

The Group's Management Board stated in the press release: "We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Promens Zevenaar and Promens Rõngu and the further expansion of the Sapa Group in the commercial vehicle segment. This investment enables us to further consolidate our position as a market leader in sustainable mobility and bring our one-shot manufacturing process to the world of trucks. We are determined to offer innovative and sustainable solutions to our customers in Europe and worldwide, contributing to a more environmentally sustainable future for all."

The Sapa Group primarily produces injection moulded components for the automotive industry and counts Volkswagen, Porsche, Fiat, Audi, Škoda, Iveco and Daf among its customers. The group is headquartered in Arpaia in the southern Italian region of Campania and currently has 15 production sites in Italy, Spain, Morocco, Germany (Wolfsburg), Poland and China. The Sapa Group's most recent annual turnover totalled around 300 million euros.
