Scott Bader: British company launches new plant in North Carolina

The British plastics company Scott Bader has opened its new production plant in the US state of North Carolina.

According to a press release, production of adhesives and polyester resins recently began at the plant in Mocksville. The plant is located on a 6-hectare site in the Southpoint Business Park and has a total area of around 10,000 square metres. The exact production capacities are not available. According to the latest press release, Scott Bader has so far invested around GBP 12.5 million (EUR 14.6 million) in the new site, which will initially employ 21 people.

Kevin Matthews, CEO of Scott Bader: "With the facility now fully operational, we are able to manufacture our range of structural adhesives and gelcoats in the US, significantly increasing our capacity both globally and locally. Shorter lead times for our North American customers is good news, especially given the impact of supply chain issues being experienced globally."

In North America, Scott Bader is already producing at the Drummondville site in the Canadian province of Québec, which it acquired a year ago and has invested GBP 1.5 million (EUR 1.8 million) in over the past few months.

Scott Bader is also continuing to expand its production and development capacities in Europe. The company recently announced its intention to invest a total of GBP 30 million (EUR 35.1 million) in its main plant in Wollaston, central England, over the next five years. In addition, a new development laboratory is to be opened shortly at the company's site in Amiens, France.

Scott Bader produces a wide range of synthetic resins, composites, adhesives and coatings, which are marketed primarily under the Crystic, Crestabond, Crestaform, Crestafire, Crestafix, Crestomer and Crestapol brands. In addition to the UK, France and North America, the company has production and sales locations in Ireland, Sweden, Germany (Weiden), the Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Dubai, India, China, Japan and Australia.
