Gammaflux: Hot runner control technology and more since 15 years

Easy operation, fast and accurate temperature control and monitoring up to 256 heating zones and also feature numerous monitoring, safety, documenting and evaluating functions.
During Fakuma Gammaflux Europe was celebrating its 15th anniversary. The company was established on 1st January 1997 as the European branch of Gammaflux, Virginia/USA, one of the worldwide active manufacturer of temperature controllers for hot runner systems. Product features that made, and still make, a key contribution to the company’s success are the high-performance control algorithm and the fast-response phase angle control, which used together ensure exact temperature control in the hot runner system and the nozzles within very close tolerances, even during the injection phase, when extremely rapid changes in temperature take place.

The number of employees has more than doubled, while the office and assembly floor area is now four times what it was at the beginning. Sales of controller units rose tenfold during the same period. Managing Director Benno, expects further impetus for growth to come from Eastern Europe, the Middle East and South Africa. Since the very beginning, Gammaflux Europe has operated a final controller assembly und testing facility in Wiesbaden. Highly appreciated by Gammaflux’s European customers is the company’s engineering and consulting service, which was set up during the initial years of the company’s existence and today enjoys a reputation that also reaches far beyond Gammaflux’s circle of users.

While the control principle has remained basically the same, some of the technical improvements involved the electronic componentry – for higher performance, reduced size, lowering costs –, new or better monitoring and safety functions and also the development of more efficient tools for the maintenance and repair of hot runner systems and injection moulds. Typical examples of such improvements are heat output monitoring devices for each individual control zone, permitting early recognition of any leakage in the hot runner, the Mold Doctor function for a complete analysis of the working condition of the injection mould and the Mold Monitor function as an important step towards total temperature control (TTC), which monitors not only the hot runner system but also all temperatures relevant to the injection moulding process. A further, yet to be realized objective is the development of an all-embracing monitoring system for all injection moulding parameters, i.e. a system that monitors not only the temperatures but also the strokes, times, speeds and pressures.
