J&A Plastics: Standard ware plus customer-specific modifications are the trend

The trend is clearly towards customer-specific modification of a standard composition, developed in Germany and produced abroad. In response to the demands of globally active plastics processors, the niche and specialist provider, J&A Plastics (www.j-a.de), has extended the product range of its quality compounds and its capacities abroad. In the first six months of 2005, the compounder generated around 70 % of its turnover growth from deliveries to foreign plastics processors. By 30 June, the total turnover had increased by 20% .

At this year’s Fakuma, J&A Plastics is presenting its range of compounds from its own Anja^® brand programme, from one of its Spanish co-operation partners, the polyamide specialist Grupo Repol, and its distribution partners. “We want to provide our customers with explanations using application examples” says Managing Director Hans-Peter Angenendt, who is leading the company in the second generation, “to show the production and cost advantages that they stand to gain from our fine quality gradings in the categories A, J and R.“ Now, for practically every application, J&A Plastics – not least thanks to the dramatically increasing type wares programme of its partners – can offer a material which can be modified for the customer to a precise special setting, according to the philosophy “You design. We work.“

A new feature of the programme is the Anjablend A PC/ABS with high heat resistance which meets the fire protection requirements as per UL^® 94 VO at 1.6 mm. For customer-specific modification, J&A Plastics have observed that demand is increasing for compositions which guarantee a broad colour palette, are heat resistant and anti-static and correspond to the new ROHS electrical regulations. The compounder from Krefeld has enhanced the UL^® 94-listed product range with light flowing and easily end formable Anjalon PC J100V and Anjalon PC J100V-FR , which is also flame retardant and offers VO at 1.5 mm. Both UL 94 listed materials come from the quality series J with very attractive prices.

The collaboration with the Spanish partner Grupo Repol showed its first visible successes in the first half of 2005 through jointly realised projects and new products. Anja^®-Compounds have been produced in Spain since Spring 2005.
