bvse: 16th International Conference on Recycling of Plastics on June 11th/12th - „Understanding Plastics Recycling”

„Understanding Plastics Recycling” is the motto of the 16th International Conference on Recycling of Plastics, organized by the bvse-Division for Plastics Recycling. It will be taking place in Bad Neuenahr on the 11th and 12th of June, 2013. The partner country of this year’s event is the United Kingdom, which will be focused on in a workshop on the first day. The legal framework for plastics recycling there, an overview of waste management, examples for energy from waste and innovations in plastics recycling will be addressed. „The recycling industry in the UK still has high potential and is developing further. Lately, there have been interesting approaches for separate collection and recycling. Therefore, we are very much looking forward to exchanging experiences“, says Dr. Dirk Textor, Chairman of the bvse-Division for Plastics Recycling.

During two further workshops which take place at the same time, participants will have the possibility to discuss „Plastics Recycling and Local Authorities” as well as „Import and Export of Plastics” with industry experts.

Sustainability is the basis for growth. This is especially true for the recycling industry. The second day will therefore be opened by keynote-speaker Dr. Christian Berg (Club of Rome Germany) who will talk about „Sustainable Budgeting and Growth”. Again, the UK will be part of the event: Roger Baynham (British Plastics Federation) will give an overview on plastics recycling in the UK. The perspectives of plastics recycling in Germany will be addressed by Dr. Helge Wendenburg (German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety). Dr. Jürgen Bruder (Industry Association for Plastics Packaging) will give a lecture on „The Significance of Plastics Recycling“ as viewed by his industry association.

The following panel discussion themed „Understanding Plastics Recycling“ will be chaired by Hajo Friedrich. The participants MinDirig Dr. Gottfried Jung (Ministry for the Environment, Nutrition, Viniculture and Forestry Rhineland-Palatinate), Dr. Michael Scriba (mtm plastics GmbH), Dr. Helge Wendenburg (Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety), Stefan Schreiter (Duales System Deutschland GmbH) und Dr. Jürgen Bruder (Industry Association for Plastics Packaging) and Roger Baynham (British Plastics Federation) will talk about current issues, perspectives and the necessity of plastics recycling.

The event offers simultaneous interpretation and a traditional BBQ on the evening of the 11th June, with many opportunities to network.
