Erema: Plastic recycling technology from Standard to High End

The Austrian Erema Engineering Recycling Maschinen und Anlagen Ges.m.b.H. (www.erema.at) shows a fourth generation system equipped with the very latest technologies: The RGA 140 TVE-DD. This new-look 1000–1200 kg/h plant features many large and small innovative details, representing premium recycling technology and the completely modified and new series from the Ansfelden-based engineering group.

The show will see the first launch the patented T-DD technology at a trade fair (integrated in the displayed RGA 140) being presented to an international audience of specialists in the field. The abbreviation “T-DD” stands for "Double Disc Technology"; and represents the latest in plant technology by using two discs (instead of what was previously one) in the Erema-cutter/compactor. This ingenious advancement results in the separation of the processing steps "shredding, mixing, drying and prehomogenising" from the step "extruder feeding". In the past, both processing stages had been integrated in one single step on the classic plant.

The new technology enables very uniform extruder operation despite feed sizes being considerably bigger than before, plus also enables the processing of materials with considerably higher moisture contents compared to cutter compactor single disc executions. But what characterises this technology most, however, is the capacity, which is up to 15% higher on average (with no change in plant size), with simultaneously up to 20% reduction in specific energy consumption.

The COAX series, a technology used mainly for the processing of fibres, tapes and lumps, has had a new plant size added as smallest model, the COAX 63 E. The first plant of its size will be presented in operation for the first time at the show several times a day. The COAX 63 E is an inexpensive "entry-level" version for throughputs in the region of 100 kg/h. Its plant technology (used in particular for production waste) allows direct feeding (no need for pre-cutting) and stands out due to smooth running, a very flexible application range as well as particularly simple operation.

A team of experts from Erema's subsidiary 3S Roitham, a highly specialised manufacturing company of the Erema Group, will also be present at the stand. This company has its focus on the production of extruder screws (single screws, conical and parallel twin screws, screw components etc.), screw refurbishment (screw armouring) and the production of other complex parts for companies active in the field of mechanical engineering for plastics. 3S has been supplying not only Erema but also other well-known plastic engineering companies with high-quality parts for many years.

Part of the exhibition stand will be devoted to post-consumer PET bottle recycling. Here, Erema will demonstrate its advanced, FDA-certified expertise and experience in this field by displaying material samples, charts plus PET bottles and PET thermoforming sheet made from recycled material.

Also on the stand: the entire range of robust, time-tested (literally thousands of times) and constantly developed high-performance melt filter systems. Besides the standard use on repelletising plants, these systems, due to their outstanding capabilities, are increasingly used on fibre spinning plants, blown film plants, flat sheet plants etc. of various makers – especially, but not only, when recycled material has or shall be blended in with virgin for processing.

The Ansfelden based company's activities at the show will be rounded off by the Erema Service Team, a group of over 20 experts serving around 2000 customers around the globe. The team will have specialists at the stand to meet customers face to face; they would be delighted to have an opportunity to discuss service requirements.
