EuRIC: Rebranding as “Recycling Europe” to strengthen the voice of Europe’s recycling industry

The European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC) will henceforth operate under the new name "Recycling Europe". With the rebranding, the umbrella organization intends to emphasize its role as the common representative of interests for the European recycling industry and to strengthen its visibility in an environment marked by global uncertainties and competitive pressure.

According to the association, the name change marks a strategic step to unify the industry's voice towards politics, business, and the public. In view of trade conflicts, raw material dependencies, and the challenges of industrial decarbonization, Recycling Europe sees European recyclers as key players in achieving the EU's climate, circular economy, and competitiveness goals.

Secretary General Julia Ettinger explained that the new name represents the organization's transformation towards a unified, future-oriented representation of recyclers in Europe. However, the mission remains unchanged: to position the industry as an indispensable partner for a resilient and circular European economy.

Recycling Europe builds upon the previous core principles of EuRIC. The association represents recyclers of all material streams – including metals, plastics, paper, textiles, tires, ships, as well as construction and demolition waste – and aims to further expand its political influence at both European and international levels.

The association's work continues to focus on demanding a regulatory framework that promotes innovation, investments, and open markets, thereby ensuring the long-term competitiveness of the European recycling industry.

Recycling Europe (formerly EuRIC) represents around 80 companies and national industry associations from 24 EU and EFTA states. Its members contribute significantly to resource security, the circular economy, and sustainable industrialization in Europe through the conversion of waste into secondary raw materials.
