Dopak has developed and brought to market the so-called "Energy Saving System" (ESS) to reduce energy costs in plastics parts manufacturing. The technology is a retrofit controller for the hydraulic drive motor of hydraulic injection molding machines, which takes over the functionality of a servo drive. The system is designed to be manufacturer-independent and can be installed on machines of different brands. By using ESS, companies are expected to reduce electricity consumption by up to 40 percent and additionally lower the costs for cooling the hydraulic oil. The actual savings are verified by measurements before and after installation. Beyond the financial benefits, the technology is intended to contribute to reducing the CO2 footprint. The implementation does not require intervention in the factory automation, so production can continue without interruption. Dopak offers two main variants: "ESS Compact" for injection molding machines up to 300 tons clamping force, and "ESS Smatz" and "ESS One" for larger machines over 300 tons clamping force. According to further provider information, the commissioning of the controller is relatively short, taking up to two hours, and the device can be transferred to another injection molding machine with the same or lower motor power if required. The components used are from Siemens or Mitsubishi. More information: dopak.pl/ess |
