Sabic, Scientific Design (SD) and Linde Engineering have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to explore collaboration opportunities to decarbonize the SD Ethylene Glycol Process. This collaboration aims to develop solutions to reduce the carbon footprint and achieve a low carbon emission technology by offering Sabic's CO2 recovery and purification technology to SD plants licensed to produce glycol worldwide. The goal is to establish sustainable ethylene oxide and ethylene glycol production. The collaboration will use Sabic's proprietary CO2 technology to recover and purify up to 500,000 tons of CO2 per year that would otherwise be emitted into the atmosphere during ethylene glycol production. The captured CO2 can be converted into useful products, e.g. urea, methanol and liquefied CO2, which can be used in the food and beverage industry, for example. More information: www.sabic.com |
