Barlog Plastics: PEKK Compounds, Recycled Materials and Expanded Rapid Tooling Production

Barlog Plastics GmbH will present material and manufacturing solutions for sustainable plastics applications, metal replacement, and the development of prototypes and small production runs at Fakuma 2026. The main highlights include new PEKK compounds, post-consumer recycled materials, PFAS-free tribological materials, and expanded rapid tooling capabilities.

In the field of sustainable materials, the company is expanding its “Keballoy Eco” portfolio with compounds based on post-consumer recyclates. Barlog Plastics will also showcase PFAS-free tribological materials as alternatives to PTFE-modified materials. Its “Eco-Selection,” “Eco-Design,” “Eco-Calculator,” and “Eco-Simulation” services are designed to integrate material selection, component design, and carbon footprint assessment from the early stages of development.

Barlog Plastics is also expanding its rapid tooling capabilities for prototype, pre-series, and small-series production. In addition to conventional injection molding, the offering includes two-component applications, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) processing, and plastic-metal hybrid components. An additional vertical injection-molding machine is intended particularly for producing complex geometries and components with inserts. Near-production prototypes can be manufactured using the materials intended for subsequent series production.

Another focus is the replacement of metal with highly reinforced plastics engineered for specific applications. In addition to reducing component weight and improving corrosion resistance, the compounds are designed to enable the integration of additional functions. These include electromagnetic shielding, magnetic properties, and precisely adjustable high material densities. The company cites mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, the automotive industry, and consumer goods as potential application areas.

With its “Kebapeak 9000” product range, Barlog Plastics is also introducing compounds based on polyetherketoneketone (PEKK). According to the company, the materials achieve a heat deflection temperature of up to 385 degrees Celsius. Their high degree of crystallinity is intended to increase mechanical strength and reduce wear under demanding operating conditions.
