Ultrapolymers adds Teijin “Panlite” polycarbonates to engineering plastics portfolio

Ultrapolymers is expanding its engineering plastics portfolio in Europe with polycarbonates from Japanese materials manufacturer Teijin. The distribution agreement covers most European markets and includes the full “Panlite” range of standard and specialty grades as well as PC compounds.

According to Ultrapolymers, which announced the agreement ahead of Fakuma 2026, the company will provide not only sales and distribution but also technical application support, warehousing and logistics through its regional network.

Teijin has been producing polycarbonate since 1960 and markets the material under the “Panlite” brand. The portfolio targets applications requiring high optical performance, controlled material purity and consistent processing characteristics. Typical uses include optical components and lenses, lighting systems, safety and protective components, heating and air-conditioning equipment, packaging, and housings for electrical and electronic applications.

The range includes grades with very low to medium viscosity as well as UV-stabilized variants. Several grades achieve a V-2 flammability rating under UL 94. Many of these materials are also rated UL 746C-F1 for applications requiring weatherability and electrical safety. Selected grades additionally comply with requirements of the Automotive Manufacturers Equipment Compliance Agency (AMECA) for certain automotive components and safety equipment.

Specialty grades highlighted by the companies include “Panlite” L-1250VX, which provides UV blocking at 400 nm. L-1225 Z/100M is designed for enhanced impact resistance, while the high-flow L-1225 ZL/100 is suited to thin-wall parts and applications with long flow paths. The powder grade L-1225WX combines low viscosity with high dispersibility and is intended particularly for masterbatch production and compounding.

The materials can be processed by injection molding, extrusion and compounding. At Fakuma 2026, Ultrapolymers will focus its trade fair presentation on engineering plastics, including polycarbonate.
