Arburg: 2026 Turnover Expected to Exceed Previous Year's €576 Million – Expansion of Manufacturing in China

Injection moulding machine manufacturer Arburg expects turnover for the 2026 financial year to exceed the previous year's figure of €576 million. At its press conference at Fakuma 2026 in Friedrichshafen, the company reported a recovery in incoming orders since the second quarter and a recent increase in production capacity utilisation beyond initial expectations. Arburg did not provide a specific turnover forecast for the full year. Key areas of focus for the company's further development include the acquisition of Stork IMM, the expansion of regional manufacturing capacity and additional offerings in automation and digitalisation.

Market Conditions: Growth in the Americas and Asia
According to Arburg, demand for injection moulding machines remains weak in Germany and large parts of Europe. Investment activity is being hampered by factors including high energy costs, the relocation of production operations and competition from Asian machinery manufacturers. Within Europe, Eastern European markets are currently performing better than those in Western Europe.

By contrast, the company is recording growth in the Americas and Asia. The market in the Americas has recently stabilised. In Asia, business in China in particular is developing better than expected, while performance in other South-East Asian countries remains mixed. Across application sectors, Arburg sees a recovery in the electrical and electronics industry, partly driven by investment in artificial intelligence, data centres and electromobility. The medical technology sector is showing slight growth, while the automotive industry remains at a low level. The packaging market is proving comparatively stable.

Arburg does not expect a rapid return to a broad-based recovery in 2027 either. The company identifies automation, energy and material efficiency, digitalisation and the modernisation of existing production facilities as medium-term drivers of investment. Accordingly, Arburg intends to expand its offering beyond machinery to include turnkey production cells, process support and digital services.

Stork Acquisition and Regional Manufacturing in China
Dutch injection moulding machine manufacturer Stork IMM has been part of Arburg since 1 October 2026 (see also plasticker-news dated July 30, 2026). The acquired company specialises in high-speed, large-scale machines for the production of thin-walled packaging. With Stork's technology, Arburg is expanding its product range to include high-performance machines with clamping forces ranging from 5,000 kN to 20,000 kN. The aim is to address additional applications in the packaging sector and market these machines more widely through Arburg's international sales and service network.

At the same time, Arburg is working to strengthen its regional presence. According to the company, it operates 37 sites in 27 countries and, including its distribution partners, is represented in more than 100 countries. Since July 2026, machines from the electric "Allrounder Trend" series have been assembled in Pinghu, China, for the Asian market. The official inauguration of the plant is scheduled for November. Customer-specific turnkey production systems are also being developed there in cooperation with regional partners. Arburg has appointed Bharat Sharma as its new Regional Manager for the Asia-Pacific region outside China.
