K.D. Feddersen: Acquisition of Materialdepån Norden

The German plastics distributor K.D. Feddersen (www.kdfeddersen.com) acquires Materialdepån Norden AB in Anderstorp. The Swedish company specialises in the distribution of engineering polymers, the sale of plastics processing machines and provides training on plastics in the Nordic and Baltic countries. Within the scope of K.D. Feddersen’s growth strategy, the acquisition is designed to strengthen activities in the north.

”Materialdepån Norden is an innovative company with extensive know-how and an excellent reputation in the region. Its portfolio is a perfect match for us,” says Karlheinz Schuster, Managing Director of K.D. Feddersen. As one of the leading plastics distributors in Western Europe, the company plans to carry out a series of further strategic expansions. “Our aim is to offer fast and flexible solutions to our customers on a local basis and at an attractive price/performance ratio,” explains Schuster. In his view, the prerequisites include high quality standards, broad know-how and technical expertise. A further key success factor is good knowledge of regional markets. And now the takeover of Materialdepån Norden, including all employees and other branch offices and warehouses in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Estonia, provides the company with regional market knowledge for the north of Europe. Within the framework of its expansion strategy, K.D. Feddersen had already established K.D.F. Distribution in Shanghai in 1999 and laid the foundation for its subsidiary in France through an acquisition in 2003.

In addition to these suppliers Materialdepån Norden offers – with a focus on the Nordic and Baltic countries – engineering polymers from DSM, Evonik and Dyneon, as well as injection moulding machines and other plastics processing equipment from Negri Bossi, Piovan and Bekum. The Swedish company was established in 1981. With 18 employees it generated sales of 15 million euros in 2007. Following a transition phase, the company will be renamed to K.D. Feddersen Norden.
