The recycling company LH-Plastics GmbH, based in Werdau in the district of Zwickau, Saxony, Gemany, commissioned a new Erema recycling line on October 6, 2025. With the addition of this system, the company is increasing its annual capacity for post-consumer LDPE recyclate (PCR-LDPE) by 3,000 tons. The goal is to meet the growing demand from the packaging industry for high-quality recyclates. The investment in this new recycling technology is part of a long-term strategy to expand capacity. The company plans to intensify supply of PCR-LDPE to applications such as stretch films, bubble wrap, thin garbage bags, shrink hoods, and flat films. According to LH-Plastics, the new line enables more stable production processes, improved quality assurance, and greater operational efficiency. The system features fine filtration down to 70 µm, which is intended to ensure uniform gel quality and clean surfaces. Homogenization in mixing silos ensures consistent melt flow rates (MFR) and color values. The process is complemented by “RecyClass”-compliant testing procedures, allowing for documentation of each batch with certificates of analysis (COAs) and retained samples. A digital traceability system across the entire production chain is also integrated. With this investment, LH-Plastics reaffirms its commitment to its German location and its over 25-year partnership with machinery manufacturer Erema. In view of increasing regulatory requirements—such as the planned EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the associated recycled content quotas starting in 2030—the company sees an urgent need to proactively build capacity for high-quality PCR plastics. LH-Plastics produces LDPE and PP recyclates from post-consumer film waste. With a total capacity of over 12,000 tons per year (as of 2025), the company considers itself one of the established providers in the European market. It is certified under EUCertPlast and RecyClass, among others. More information: www.lh-plastics.de, www.erema-group.com |
