This new facility reinforces Rhodia Polyamide’s commitment to growth in China and more generally in Asia. It is the second plant built in Asia by the company since 2003, bringing the company’s Asian production up to 80 000 T. Rhodia Polyamide will have there the expertise to produce the full spectrum of compounded products including Technyl® PA6, PA66 and PA 66/6, Technyl Star™, as well as Technyl® Alloy and other engineering thermoplastics. It gives the strong base to serve all type of customers throughout China and support Global Key Account development in China and Asia, support the growth of E&E, CIG and Automotive activities in the region as well as serve the entire Chinese market through distribution. “This investment is a major component of Rhodia’s strategy to focus resources in key markets, and illustrates Rhodia Polyamide’s commitment to its engineering plastics’ customers in Asia” said Alberto Pedrosa, President, Rhodia Polyamide. The new plant is designed with the most modern equipment and process, like compounding automatization and packaging, in a friendly environment for our team and for the community. It is a strong new step to reach best in class product quality, delivery reliability and growth. The new facility is designed to accommodate future Chinese production requirements that are anticipated to face a double digit growth. The new compounding plant will produce approximately 40 000 T at full capacity and further confirms Rhodia Polyamide’s commitment to maintaining a leadership position in Engineering Plastics. Strategically located on a Rhodia Shanghai multi-activity site which includes a strong research and development centre and sales and marketing organisation, the new facility will take full advantage of the synergies between other Rhodia activities and offer strong product quality, services and competitiveness. “This new plant will strongly reinforce our position in China and more generally in Asia, creating an exceptional production platform to meet the needs of polyamide engineering thermoplastic customers throughout the region” conclude Jean-Claude Steinmetz and Vincent Kamel, respectively Vice-president Engineering Plastics and Industrial Yarns, and Vice-President Rhodia Polyamide Asia Pacific. |
