New Eurocell closed-loop recycling system can process up to 12,000 end-of-life window frames per week Tessenderlo Group has invested, through its subsidiary Eurocell, 3.5 million euro in creating the UK‟s largest and most advanced PVC recycling operation. The new plant, based in Derbyshire, was officially opened November 30th, 2011. Albert Vasseur, Director Plastics Converting, explains: “This investment is another illustration of Tessenderlo Group’s focus on a sustainable business model, where we act as a service provider and turn waste or by-products into high value products. At Eurocell, we are offering a double environmental benefit by recycling PVC and manufacturing more energy efficient products.” The recycled PVC material is used for the manufacture of new energy efficient products, such as thermal inserts and cavity closers used in window systems. These building products, manufactured from 100% recycled PVC, help to reduce heat loss from windows and enhance the thermal and environmental performance of buildings. “The official opening marks the beginning of a new era for Eurocell in terms of sustainable manufacturing and offering an unbeatable „green solution‟,” adds Patrick Bateman, Eurocell’s CEO. “As a company we are advanced in using the recycled material to manufacture innovative new products that help customers meet ever more stringent building performance requirements.” Eurocell is now at the forefront of upgrading the estimated 230 million windows in the UK, 85 per cent of which have PVC frames and fail contemporary energy efficiency standards. Preserving resources through closed loop recycling and improving energy efficiencies are Eurocell’s contributions to today’s global megachallenges. About Eurocell Eurocell is part of Tessenderlo Group. It is the UK’s leading manufacturer and distributor of window, conservatory and roofline PVC-U profiles for the construction industry. Eurocell operates a nationwide network of 115+ building plastics branches serving trade and DIY customers.
